SCHOLARSHIPS
The Keene Community Music Center is strongly committed to
providing financial assistance to students who would
otherwise not be able to participate in musical opportunities
at KCMC.
Families may be eligible for one of three assistance levels depending on family size and gross
family income.

  • Level 1 Maximum Scholarship =  80% of lesson fees.
  • Level 2 Maximum Scholarship =  60% of lesson fees.
  • Level 3 Maximum Scholarship =  40% of lesson fees.

Special circumstances as explained by a narrative to the scholarship committee will be handled on
a case-by-case basis. Students who are listed as dependents on their parents' 1040 form may not
apply for financial aid based on their own income.

AWARDS and OBLIGATIONS
  • Scholarship awards range from 20-80% of lesson fees.

  • Student co-payments must be made on time in order for financial aid to be
    continued.

  • Initial awards are subject to a 6 week probationary period. At the end of the
first 6 weeks, teachers will offer feedback to the scholarship committee
regarding student attendance and dedication, as well as family support and
commitment. After the probationary period, scholarships may be renewed for
the duration of the quarter or discontinued.

  • There are 4 quarters in the KCMC year, each providing 12 weeks for lessons:
Fall (Sept., Oct., Nov.) Winter (Dec., Jan. Feb.) Spring (Mar., April, May) and
Summer (June, July, Aug.). Scholarships are renewed quarterly upon the
recommendation of the teacher. Scholarship recipients are not required to re-
apply quarterly unless their financial situation has changed.

  • Scholarship recipients must re-apply annually. KCMC will make every effort to
continue to support families who rely on scholarship assistance, however
awards are not guaranteed from year to year
APPLICATION PROCESS
  • Complete the entire APPLICATION. If you do not meet the income guidelines,
include a letter to the scholarship committee detailing the special circumstances
that may make you eligible to receive assistance.

  • Attach your most recent 1040 form. The figure shown on the 1040 must
support total yearly family income entered on this application. Your application
will not be processed without proof of income.

Please contact KCMC with any questions about the scholarship application
process
There are three funding priorities:

  • Current KCMC students and families who fall within the income eligibility guidelines.*

  • Current KCMC families with special circumstances such as sudden financial change or high
    musical expenses (multiple students).

  • Prospective new families who fall within the income eligibility guidelines.*

Scholarship applications are accepted on a rolling basis. The scholarship committee meets as
needed and reviews all applications. All applications are considered confidential.

*If you do not meet the income eligibility guidelines but face other circumstances which might make you a candidate for financial assistance, please
fill out the application and attach a letter to the scholarship committee explaining why you believe you should be considered for financial aid.
